Position Summary

The Senior Data Center Engineer, Cloud Operations is responsible for the design, installation, and ongoing operational support of cloud data center infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, stability, and scalability of core cloud data centers by managing capacity, maintaining design standards, and supporting customer and internal cloud initiatives. The Senior Data Center Engineer serves as a technical expert and escalation point for complex infrastructure challenges.

Ensure cloud data center infrastructure is designed, operated, and maintained to deliver high availability, performance, and scalability while supporting customer requirements and future growth.

Key Responsibilities

– Design, implement, and maintain data center networking and infrastructure to support cloud operations.
– Support installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of customer and internal cloud infrastructure.
– Serve as an escalation point for complex infrastructure and operational issues.
– Maintain capacity across space, power, networking, compute, memory, and storage resources.
– Monitor infrastructure health and performance.
– Develop recommendations for future growth and capacity planning.
– Research and evaluate new and emerging technologies.
– Participate in on-call rotations.
– Collaborate with engineering and cloud services teams.

Required Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
– 7+ years of data center or cloud infrastructure experience.
– Strong experience with VMware and virtualization platforms.
– Experience with Dell servers, SAN technologies, and enterprise networking.
– Advanced networking experience with Cisco IOS, routing protocols, firewall configuration, and iSCSI.
– Experience with Extreme Networking and Palo Alto platforms.
– Strong communication skills and customer-facing experience.

Preferred Qualifications

– Industry certifications such as CCNA or VMware.
– Experience in managed cloud or multi-tenant environments.

Key Relationships & Scope

Works closely with Data Center Operations leadership, cloud engineers, and service delivery teams. Interfaces with customers as needed for installation and troubleshooting.
